Uncontested divorce is an agreement settling all issues involving child custody, child support and property distribution.

Plaintiff is a person who brings an action.

Defendant is the person defending or denying the action brought by a plaintiff.

Petitioner is the person who presents a petition to a court, officer or legislative body. In addition, it is the one who starts an equity proceeding or the one who takes an appeal from a judgment.

Respondent is the part in equity practice that makes an answer to a bill or other proceeding in equity.
